Absolutely loved it. Food was great and Service was awesome too. Date of experience: March Meridian, Mississippi 38 contributions 50 helpful votes.
I didn't really like the show. It was boring. I was actually ready to go before the show was over. I think the venue expects you to drink and you will be entertained if you do.
Maybe I expected MORE. They have a variety, which may be the downfall, of this show. There was Adele, Elvis, Michael Jackson. Those were good, but I was somewhat bored, when others such as Frank Sinatra, were on stage.
I think the show was trying to appeal to all. That means that if I would have took my grandpa, he would have liked the Frank Sinatra part and not liked the newer artists such as Adele.
I was bored a lot. BECAUSE Frankly, I'm not sure who the 3 guys are besides Frank Sinatra. Who are the other two? I haven't got a clue!
Anyhow, on to the food. I actually read the reviews before going. MAYBE that should have scared me off. I was told the food was terrible on the reviews.
The waiter informed me that if you order the vegetarian dish I should have ordered soda. I ordered the wine.
It just was too strong for me! You might have a different opinion about that. I'm a lightweight! This venue is across the street from Old Town.
So, make sure you turn in directly across from Old Town. The address is: West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, FL Cajun-4 2 January Most of us of a certain age will remember the events in this movie as newspaper headlines.
I have no idea how much fictionalisation there is but the film does capture the mood of the time and the sleazy blend of Las Vegas show business, gangsterism and American politics.
There is no attempt to get look alikes for the main roles but their personalities are suggested rather cleverly. In the smaller roles I thought Dan O'Herlihy was a standout as the evil, conniving Joe Kennedy.
The musical numbers are well integrated into the plot and nicely done. Scoopy 6 January Y'know, I really liked this film which recalls a year or two in the life of the Rat Pack, but I can't tell you why.
I've watched the DVD four times in the last three days. On the one hand, it is just a rehashing of some old cliches and an extended display of celebrity impersonations.
When Sinatra performs, for example, it is Ray Liotta's body and the voice of a fellow named Michael Dees Forget about the rest of the players This guy is so good it is eerie.
I guess what I liked about the movie is that it was just so much damned fun to live in those days again for a couple of hours.
The movie did a decent job of showing what it was like to be hung up in the ring-a-ding, koo-koo life of the guys who had "the world on a string" for a couple of decades.
Forget the deep insights. There aren't any but, as Dino said, "you can't share your deepest feelings when you don't have any".
The film did make an effort to show Sammy's inner conflict between his own sense of self-worth and the second class citizenship he was accorded by his country and even his buddies, but it was a clumsy attempt to be serious, like a drunken guy telling you how much he loves you, and frankly it provided some of the slowest moments in the movie.
But you'll marvel again at Dino's centered calm, Sammy's dazzling talent, Frank's complex and godlike power, JFK's charisma, and Frank's incomparable phrasing of a song Exploring Sinatra's associations with his musical friends and the Kennedy family gunsonfrench 25 September I missed this on HBO and was delighted to pick it up recently.
With the possible exception of Ray Liotta, the physical casting was truly well done. Liotta plays Sinatra reminiscing towards the end of his life about his golden years, his old friends in the 'Rat Pack' and his aspirations to be loved universally by helping John F Kennedy into power.
What made this stand out for me is not only the wonderful recreations of the legendary on stage horseplay the Rat Pack indulged in, but also some of the private agonies, particularly those of Sammy Davies Junior, in another superb performance by Don Cheadle, who is given his own solo spectacular scene in a face off against the Ku Klux Klan.
The Kennedy and Lawford association is also covered in some depth, and the Sinatra character is well rounded - we feel for him much of the time, but his personality is far from sugar coated.
As a film character, he is compelling, although Ray Liotta makes little attempt to emulate Sinatra in voice or mannerisms.
Joe Mantegna IS Dean Martin physically, and this helps the authenticity of the piece, but he is sadly underwritten, Gone is the hell raiser and womaniser of legend.
In his place is a laconic 'Fonz', smooth with the ladies, but sleeping alone. William Petersen nails Kennedy in spite of physical differences, and the scenes with him and Sinatra seem consistent with their characters.
Angus McFadyen plays a nervous Lawford, caught between using his Kennedy connections to become part of the Rat Pack and keeping Frank out of the White House.
Ava Gardner also makes a brief appearance in the form of Debra Kara Unger. Aside from the unusual casting of it's lead Aidan Quinn would have been a much more realistic choice , my only real gripe is how suddenly it all ends, while you wait for a proper conclusion.
This is a wonderful glimpse into the intertwined lives of some of the highest profile people on the planet. I've given a lot of thought to this movie and, in all honesty, I can't think of anything in particular to critique about it.
Revolving around the relationship between the famous "Rat Pack" of the 's Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. In addition to the Rat Pack and the Kennedy's we get glimpses of Marilyn Monroe Barbara Niven and Joe DiMaggio John Diehl, and a look at the involvement of organized crime.
The performances are strong. Ray Liotta was a standout as Sinatra, but no less compelling were Joe Mantegna as Martin and Angus MacFadyen as Lawford.
Bobby Slayton as Joey Bishop was less central to the story, but pulled off the character well. Only Don Cheadle as Davis seemed to not quite grasp his character, but he still managed a good performance.
The intricacies of the relationship between the five particularly between Sinatra and Lawford are detailed and everything seems very natural.
Is this really the way it was? I don't know. Only these five would know for sure, but the movie seemed plausible and was an entertaining evening - another success for HBO in my opinion.
I found it fascinating stuff. The story is good and certainly made me think about maybe why and by whom John and Bobby Kennedy as well as Marilyn Monroe were killed!
But that's a side point. Not a bad film but the casting director needs to be shot! Don Cheadle, as Sammy Davis is probably the most convincing and I am sure it was no easy task to capture the highly talented Mr Davis Jr, especially the dancing.
The racism and the obvious pain of Sammy really came through. Angus MacFadyen's Lawford is not too bad and is second to Don Cheadle's performance.
From there the casting goes really off Joe Mantegna captures something of Dean Martin's character but is not as handsome or charming enough.
William L. Petersen, looks and sounds nothing like JFK and portrays him as a shallow, weak character. Then we come to the worst casting in the whole film.
Ray Liotta looks not even close to Sinatra, he is much too tall, and even worse he fails to carry himself like him and his speaking voice is just awful, he sounds like a squeaky teenager most of the time.
So with a better cast this could have been a superb film but it is not. Classic Tragedy, with Incredible Characters slight spoilers Leofish 6 July The fascinating thing aboutThe Rat Pack film is that director Rob Cohen treats it almost like a Greek tragedy, with an impressive rise and a truly mournful downfall.
That these characters are real people and larger-than-life in their swagger and impact on a nation only adds to this movie's effect.
The casting is awe-inspiring, with Cheadle, Liotta, and Mantegna really becoming their parts, not just aping mannerisms and voices of the real people but catching the effect of their styles and personalities.
Liotta's is a very difficult part, for the real Sinatra was a turbulent, conflicted man, capable of rage and powerful anger and yet love, loneliness and tenderness, and it's great compliment to Liotta to say that he nailed the part.
However, the film is most effective in showing the tragedy and lost hope of the Kennedy Years, the flawed but beautiful "Camelot" myth.
William Peterson is great as Jack, coming across as a devilish, womanizing politician who wants to conduct himelf as a Rat Packer yet finds himself constrained by his Presidency, which ultimately hurts Sinatra, in scenes so emotional that the viewer feels very sorry for the wounded crooner, wanting love and respect from his poweful friend and yet getting rejected for the way he and Jack Kennedy has lived his life.
The final scene, set to the tune of "One for My Baby" is haunting both in its revelations, its sad reflection on its characters, and the horror in what it leaves unsaid.
A lesser film would've shown the Rat Pack's reaction to the Kennedy assassination and ended there, but instead Cohen ends with a shot of Peter Lawford standing solemnly outside the Kennedy Family Home in Hyanis Port, looking out to the sea, as if waiting for something.
Then comes the end of the song, and there is a brilliant shot of the needle coming off the record and the familiar dull thud, then silence. A perfect metaphor for November 22, , and the true end of the Rat Pack.
The Rat Pack Review As my wife is a Sinatra fan, it was only a matter of time before I ended up seeing this.
Ray Liotta, Don Cheadle, and Joe Mantenga star in this film, portraying their counterparts Sinatra, Davis Jr.
This film is not so much about the Rat Pack as it is about Sinatra and the help he offered to get John F. Kennedy elected as President of the United States.
JFK is portrayed by none other than Gil Grissom from CSI. At any rate, the rest of the Rat Pack is only lightly touched upon as Sinatra is followed around almost constantly.

Although the advent of rock and roll may have been the main cause of the rat pack's decline, could the women's movement also have been a contributing factor?

When idolizing fans throw themselves at celebrities, it's hard for the recipient of such attention to say no.
The same applies in today's world as it did then. Some women would never put themselves in that scenario BUT, as to the possibility of rock and roll causing the Rat Pack's demise, that is a real possibility.
The public is like a moth, fickle and always looking for that new, brighter light. Also, as the music-buying public ages, the next generation becomes wage-earners, wanting something Daddy didn't listen to.

Apr 13, Jeff rated it liked it Shelves: non-fiction. If you believe The Rat Pack was the pinnacle of sophisticated grown-up entertainment in the 20th century, as the author claims, this is the book for you.
Just who is this Rat Pack? Well, Ring-a-Ding-Ding, kids. A square. Sinatra was the puppet master, at the height of his popularity, a gifted singer, a decent actor when he cared enough and a bully.
Dean Martin was the epitome of cool or sheer indifference and refined the drunkard-as-an-on-stage-persona routine. Davis had to deal with years and years of some of the most virulent racism you can imagine.
Once he displeased Sinatra and had to literally beg on his hands and knees in order to be let back into the Pack. He guest starred on the Love Boat.
Joey Bishop was a comedian. He wrote some of the Rat Pack stage material. He ended up on Hollywood Squares, to the left of Paul Lynde.
For your grandparents. Or you could just pick up a Sinatra or Dean Martin CD - the music - the real legacy. View all 15 comments. Apr 04, Morgan rated it it was amazing.
Cool touch of nostalgia for those of us of a certain age. How it started, how it progressed and how it ended.
Their ups and downs were many and staggering, not always flattering, sometimes offensive. Their triumphs and failures also many and stunning, sometimes shocking.
BUT they are remembered Cool touch of nostalgia for those of us of a certain age. BUT they are remembered centuries later as giants of the industry.
Their collective excess of talent is flabbergasting. No one else can touch them. I loved reliving the golden days when these icons, all of them, gave us everything they had, and more.

Is this seriously how I am going to have to sell my house? Is this how I am going to have to remove this container?? David, unfortunately, we have not been able to locate your order based on the information we have at this time.
The bank had turned off my card off for 2 hours because I was driving across the county as a security measure. When it didn't go through they sent one email that went to my junk folder.
And that was all! They had everything we own and we never got another email or phone call they had our number and had no issue using it when I was scheduling the move.
If we had ordered a meal from Grubhub and our card didn't go through for whatever reason, we would have gotten multiple emails and a call.
They have done absolutely nothing to help us. I cannot stress this enough, do not use this company! We sincerely apologize for the difficulties our customer has experienced.
A manager has been in contact with the customer and we are working to resolve the issue. We appreciate the feedback and will be sure to take it into consideration as we work towards providing a better customer experience.
They breached our contract and they apologised for their mistake. We lost everything and left with nothing.
They raised our unit rent during this pandemic as their excuse was they did not have enough units. This company has not done anything to help as we lost our home and now all our personal belongings that cannot be replaced like my Pantera memorabilia and photographs.
My kids' baby clothes and their baby stuff. It is wrong on so many levels as they realised they messed up on their end and as we found out we were not the only ones.
We would love everything back including our furniture, electronics and more. Paula, unfortunately, we have not been able to locate your order based on the information we have at this time.
I ordered a container for a long-distance move, and the pickup keeps getting delayed! I keep hearing "tomorrow" and in the meantime, I am about to close on the house!
Customer service doesn't help, just keeps talking at me, with "I apologize" and "We will prioritize" and "Unfortunately" blah blah.
Terrible experience. I contacted this company to help with my move in July They picked up the container on July 12th.
They then transported the unit to my new home on August 11th. As I opened the container all of my items were fallen over.
As the items were out of the unit I noticed the majority of my items badly damaged including my bedroom furniture, tv stands, floor vase completely broken and cracked to severe damage to my other bed set.
These items were packed neatly and orderly along with blankets. They then refused to pay for my damages and blamed me for the damage. This is completely unfair and unprofessional.
The unit must have not been managed carefully. They are not taking responsibility for this, this is unjust. No disclosures were sent to me prior to me making an informed decision to use their services.
I did not receive any other documents after searching my e-mail, I would like to have a fair settlement for the damaged caused.
I am not to be blamed for this. This is not a fair and honest way to do business and treat their customer. Also adding the claims representative refused to allow me to speak to a manager.
